Morena Morena

Logline: After an insecure folk artist seeks out skin whitening cream to cope with everyday life, she must race to reverse its terrifying supernatural side effects.

Full Synopsis:
While painting a portrait of indigenous Aeta natives in the Philippines, Ciara Morena, an insecure folk artist, runs out of brown paint to complete her piece. At the art store, she hesitates to pick up the darker brown paint after thinking about her mother’s warnings about becoming too dark under the sun. To top it off, she overhears customers talking about tanning and skin whitening pills and faces a tenant who mistakes her for a facility employee due to her appearance. Fed up with the triggers and microaggressions, Ciara resorts to skin whitening cream after she sees an ad. When the cream arrives the next day, she tests it out and begins to hallucinate flashes of her ancestor, a Kalinga Warrior. As the side effects and hallucinations worsen, Ciara discovers a side effect of the product and must rush to the hospital before it erases every trace of her existence...and her.

Expecting Expecting

Taylor Armstrong is quite anxious about the impending arrival of their two twins - and tonight's gender reveal party doesn't make things any easier. Taylor has always had a rocky relationship with their father, who exudes toxic masculinity, and Taylor's male friends aren't much better, as they ruthlessly tease Taylor about Taylor's aversion to traditionally masculine activities like sports and hunting. As the pressure builds from Taylor's father and male friends during tonight's party, Taylor prepares to share the truth about their gender identity.

Masculinity can be particularly confining and confounding, and Taylor Armstrong's difficult journey in EXPECTING speaks to the traumatic experiences that many people who are born as biological men often have.

A Jared Milrad Film, starring award-winning actors Jack Settipane (LAST CALL with John Malkovich), Kiana Madani (THE PIRATES OF SOMALIA opposite Al Pacino and Evan Peters), and Mark Torres (DR.
